Where do you live?
I live in Observatory, Cape Town.
How did you get into textile design?
Textile design happened completely by accident. I studied printmaking, and have always loved patterns of any kind. I thought it would be fun to print by hand on fabric – people liked the prints, and things have just gone on from there. I’ve learned about creating repeats as I go.
What would the perfect Sunday look like?
A perfect Sunday would be slightly cold and drizzly. I’d have coffee in bed, and read for a bit, then spend the rest of the day in my studio, drawing. I’d take a break mid-afternoon to put some sort of stew into a cast-iron pot, and leave it to cook for 2 or 3 hours while I get back to work. After supper, a few dvds with beer and a bit of knitting, and then bed, usually after midnight.
