Ah, it makes you want to get married all over again (okay, not really, I broke out in stress acne and I was so nervous during the ceremony that I kept on correcting the priest’s pronunciation of our surnames. I’m not proud).
Nikky followed her dreams and ditched the corporate world for the merry world of weddings where almost every day is ‘the big day’. Nikky tells us more:
Well, I’m Nikky and Cape Town is the exciting city I call home. I’m originally from the friendly city of Port Elizabeth, but came here to study a bachelors degree in graphic design, graduating in 2005. I then spent endless time and energy working for the corporate world, but always felt a niggling desire to take a step towards freedom and experiment with my own designs.
In 2009, two of my friends were soon to be hitched and I offered to design their stationery as a gift. I thrived on the creativity, fun and festivity of it all and so it became clear, or obvious (!) – that this is what I should do more of. All that was left to do was make a real business of it… and so towards the end of 2010, Moonbeams and Polkadots was born! I love all things wedding, I think it’s because it’s such an awesome opportunity to display your (the bride and groom’s) sense of style and personality through their celebration.
