Artist profile: Meet illustrator Jean de Wet

Hello my name is Jean de Wet. I live and work as an illustrator in Cape Town, South Africa. Apart from the commercial world of illustration, I enjoy a variety of creative projects. I’m most passionate about drawing and printing. I’m often inspired by things that have either a confounding or mysterious nature about them. I’m currently focusing my attention on visual narratives and exploring various modes of storytelling.

Some recurring elements in my work are: (in no particular order) abandoned houses, the unknown, mutation, the cosmos, hybrid creatures, monsters, haunted houses, vague pop cultural references, Monsters, swamps, mist, forests, sorcery, professors, melting mountains, peasants,  telecommunication and many more.
