Brownen received a Masters of Fine arts from the University of Natal and she’s participated in numerous group exhibitions both locally and internationally. Since her first solo show in 2004 Bronwen has had various solo shows in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Bronwen is also one half of the Hey Cherry duo who we’ll be featuring in an upcoming post.
“I am a fine artist by trade. I lecture part-time in the Fine Art Department of the Durban University of Technology, exhibit my work nationally (and a little internationally) and I make knick-knacks for our stall at the I HEART MARKET.
My newest project is a series of paintings following on from my Fairy Tales and Urban Myths show. I am developing a technique of etching into Gesso (a traditional Renaissance ground). This time however I will be breaking out of the usual rectangular painting format and having my boards laser cut into shapes that form a composite piece. The show centers around winter and alludes to hibernation periods.”
